A short glossary for guided practice, Mastery Checks, readiness, Studio, review, flashcards and feedback controls. Use Help on each page for contextual guidance.

Which should I use?

When you are...	Use	Why
Learning a topic	Guided practice	Build one building block at a time.
Linking the pieces	Synthesis practice	Practise joining the building blocks before the strict check.
Checking the whole topic	Mastery Check	Answer the full-topic prompt under strict grading.

You may see older attempts labelled Standard or Integrated. Current learning uses Guided practice, Synthesis practice and Mastery Check.

Core study terms

Blurt: A blurt is one attempt to explain a topic or question from memory.
Attempt: One answer submitted for the current task. A study session can contain several attempts and other activities.
Primer: A short topic overview to read before recall. It is not the answer key or proof that the topic has been learned.
Answer key: The preferred task-relevant points Paper Tiger uses to assess an attempt. It is not a model answer. If a complete key is unavailable, Paper Tiger labels the result as relying more heavily on AI judgment.

Modes

Guided practice: Answer one building block at a time. This builds the topic but does not by itself mark the topic mastered.
Synthesis practice: Link the building blocks into one coherent explanation. A strong synthesis may be recalled again before Mastery Check; it is still coached practice, not the strict mastery attempt.
Mastery Check: Answer the full topic from memory. This is the strict check that can count toward full-topic readiness; Mastered needs repeated strong Mastery Checks on different days.

Scores and repair

Nearly there: Good enough to continue, with polish saved for later recall.
Repair soon / repair now: A focused correction or retest of a specific gap in an answer. Feedback can suggest a repair, but the feedback is not the repair itself.
Quick repair checks: These are short checks on one specific gap. They show whether the correction worked once; they are not Mastery Checks or evidence of mastery.

Review and flashcards

Review: A scheduled return to an exact building block, synthesis task, whole-topic recall task or Mastery Check. Due means its scheduled time has arrived, not that Paper Tiger detected forgetting.
Flashcards: Optional short retrieval drills based on specific points or gaps. Keep useful suggestions, dismiss the rest, and keep the deck targeted.

Readiness

Capable: Planning target: the main concepts are working and major misconceptions are cleared.
Strong: Planning target: linked, stricter work is working. Some topics need a strong Mastery Check, not just guided progress.
Mastered: Stored only after repeated high-scoring Mastery Checks on different days.

Studio

Quick topic: Turn one focused section of your own rights-cleared notes into a private recall topic.
Studio module: Turn a multi-topic set of your own rights-cleared notes into private topics. You review and edit the outline, prompts and draft key points before creation.
Studio source boundaries: Only add material you own or are authorised to use. Do not add confidential material, client material, or sensitive personal data.

Feedback controls

Thumbs up/down: This stores whether the grading feedback was helpful for this attempt. It does not request a re-grade or send a bug report.
Challenge this grade: Use this when the AI score, verdict, mode, prompt assessment or answer-key use seems wrong for your specific answer.
Help and reporting: Use the bottom-right Help button for page-specific guidance. Reporting lives inside Help, so bugs and content issues keep the right page context.
